This page provides a comprehensive guide to the various administrative tools available on this wiki. As an administrator, you have access to powerful features that allow you to manage content and user activities effectively. Below, you will find detailed instructions for each tool.
Page Protection
Administrators can protect pages to prevent edits by certain users or groups.
Steps to Protect a Page
- Go to the page you want to protect.
- Click the "Protect" button located at the top of the page.
- In the "Protection level" section, choose the appropriate level:
- Allow only administrators - Only administrators can edit the page.
- Allow only registered users - Only users who have registered can edit the page.
- Semi-protection - Allows edits by registered users but not new accounts.
- Set the Expiry time, or select "indefinite" if the protection should be permanent.
- Provide a reason for the protection in the "Reason" field.
- Click "Apply protection".
Restoring Deleted Pages
If a page was deleted and needs to be restored, administrators can use the page restoration tool.
Steps to Restore a Deleted Page
- Go to Special:Undelete.
- Enter the name of the deleted page.
- Select the versions you want to restore.
- Provide a reason for the restoration.
- Click "Restore".
Deleting Pages
Administrators can delete pages that are inappropriate, outdated, or no longer needed.
Steps to Delete a Page
- Navigate to the page you want to delete.
- Click the "Delete" button at the top of the page.
- Confirm the deletion by providing a reason in the "Reason" field.
- Set the "Delete associated talk page" option if needed.
- Click "Delete".
Blocking Users
Blocking a user prevents them from editing or accessing the wiki.
Steps to Block a User
- Go to Special:Block.
- Enter the username or IP address of the user.
- Set the duration of the block.
- Select the block options, such as "Prevent account creation" or "Autoblock" (blocking related IPs).
- Provide a reason for the block.
- Click "Block".
Hiding Revisions
Sometimes, it’s necessary to hide a specific revision from public view.
Steps to Hide a Revision
- Navigate to the page's history by clicking "View history".
- Locate the revision you want to hide and click the "Change visibility" .
- Select what you want to hide (content, edit summary, or username).
- Provide a reason for the hiding.
- Click "Apply visibility changes".
Changing User Rights
Administrators can grant or revoke user rights such as administrator or bureaucrat.
Steps to Change User Rights
- Go to Special:UserRights.
- Enter the username of the user.
- Select the rights you want to grant or revoke.
- Click "Save user groups".
Mass Deletion of Pages
Administrators can delete multiple pages at once using a special tool.
Steps to Mass Delete Pages
- Go to Special:Nuke.
- Filter pages by user, namespace, or time period.
- Select the pages you want to delete.
- Click "Delete".
Merging Page Histories
This tool allows administrators to merge the edit histories of two pages.
Steps to Merge Page Histories
- Go to Special:MergeHistory.
- Enter the name of the source page and the destination page.
- Click "Check for merge".
- If the merge is possible, provide a reason and click "Merge".
