Removing Testgroup to users

7
Summary by Dmehus

Two TestWiki bureaucrats acting in good-faith. Morale of the story is that it is  okay to remove duplicative user groups, but best practice is to wait at least a week (perhaps even two weeks or longer). Additionally, where a bureaucrat has removed rights prematurely in good-faith, there is no need to re-add the rights, either.

@HeartsDo: Thank you for the question, which is a good one because there's little policy basis for removing other users' rights (it's mostly by unwritten conventions, customs, and practices), so I'm happy to answer it. Basically, the answer is  yes bureaucrats and, even really administrators, can remove user groups from other users where either (a) it's clearly a test that has been done or (b) it's a duplication of an existing user group. In practice, it's recommended that bureaucrats or, at least, experienced administrators do this. Now, I generally do like to wait a few weeks to a month or so before removing such user groups. In this case, though, I'm not sure why @Naleksuh: re-added the testgroup that the user apparently removed, which seems to be the case. While maybe not needed, it was a case of the user reverting all tests in good-faith, which I think we should encourage

Okay, I've had a look at the user rights log, and I do see that you actually removed the testgroup from the user. While this was probably a bit soon to remove the testing rights (would've waited at least a few days and preferably a week), I personally didn't think Naleksuh's reverting your good-faith testing rights removal was necessary either. So, that's my assessment of the situation. I'll let you guys work out how to proceed.

Yeah, I have maybe removed the group too soon, I admit... And, for the revert of @Naleksuh:, I want to know his position about this.

@HeartsDo: IMHO, I don’t see a reason to drag this on longer, everyone was acting in good faith, and at the end of the day, we are all human!

@Zppix: While I  agree with this, I don't believe that is what @HeartsDo: was trying to do here. In absence of @Naleksuh: commenting here, perhaps we can just close this thread and anyone can feel free to trout Naleksuh and HeartsDo for their respective flubs?

HeartsDo (talkcontribs)

I agree to close this, as Zppix said, we are acting all two in good faith, and me next time, I will removed rights as Dmehus recommended more later next time! :)

Thanks anyway for the response.
