Request permissions on TestWiki

Welcome to Miraheze's TestWiki! This page is for requesting testing permissions (Administrator/Bureaucrat) for TestWiki.

Tips for a successful request:

  • Be sure to replace Requested right with the actual user right you are requesting. You will see what we are referring to once you tap on the blue 'Request permissions' button at the bottom of this pink box.

Important notes

  • Make sure to read our policies before making any request, especially the main policy and the testing policy, and remember to revert and undo all your tests once you're done.
  • Administrator user right may be granted to any logged in user, but it may also be revoked for inappropriate use.
  • Bureaucrat user right will only be granted to a user who has been an administrator for 24 hours, who has at least 10 edits, and who has been deemed trustworthy.
  • Specific user rights like CheckUser and Oversight will never be given, due to the access to sensitive private information.
  • For confirmed user and autopatrolled rights, you can assign it to yourself if you are an administrator (though you can request those user groups here if you do not require and do not want the sysop tools).
  • For consul rights, that should be requested at the community portal, and gain a clear community consensus for that right to be granted. Consul is a very high-trust role and is rarely granted.

Oh, I realized that this wiki doesn't have SecurePoll, forget it and deny please. -AnnAngela (talk) 13:44, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, we don't have it. Not done. --Anton (talk) 13:45, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Fredster33: You cannot edit public JavaScript files using only Administrator, however, you can edit Special:MyPage/common.js to make JavaScript which will only affect you. Naleksuh (talk) 04:22, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done: I did this thoughtfully. But because the user says'll use also block feature, I  granted the admin flag. Please ensure you follow our policies, especially TestWiki:Testing policy and TestWiki:Main policy, reverting every test administrative action in the reverse order performed. As a best practice, test blocks should be done on User:Example or yourself. Thank you. --Anton (talk) 08:29, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Olipino (Admin/Bureaucrats)

Done. Administrator rights granted. You can only ask for the rights of a bureaucrat later. Please ensure you follow our policies, especially TestWiki:Testing policy and TestWiki:Main policy, reverting every test administrative action in the reverse order performed. As a best practice, test blocks should be done on User:Example or yourself. --Anton (talk) 07:22, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Bureaucrat done: per TestWiki:Bureaucrats (account must be at least 24 hours old and have at least 10 edits) when requested yesterday, this user has not been granted bureaucrat rights. Now this account is old enough and compliant. See also User talk:Olipino. --Anton (talk) 08:53, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Not done I'm not satisfied with your apparent confirmation edit on an account created just today and which has zero edits. Moreover, given the outstanding outstanding concerns related to abuse of multiple accounts on Test Wiki, restoration of rights will not be considered at this time. Thank you. Olipino (Interface Administrator)

Olipino (talk) 13:16, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can’t grant these permissions because bureaucrats can’t grant this, but usually interface administrator permissions are not a test right. Dmehus, renovating, if I'm wrong (thanks)? Currently, this wiki has two interface admins: me and another. I think two is enough interface admin, because at the moment this wiki is also with the technical side all very well. This was not an official decision, but my opinion. Thank you. --Anton (talk) 14:01, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Olipino There is no specific number of interface administrators, so I would certainly consider granting this user group with a demonstrated need. However, you say your reason is to "help manage system messages." This doesn't need interface administrator permissions, as any sysop with the editinterface user right is able to edit MediaWiki system messages in MediaWiki: namespace. Dmehus (talk) 14:24, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Dmehus, please proceed to what you think should be done here. I would like to edit JavaScript or CSS interface files if there is the need. You may be informed that I requested an edit on a js file because I thought there was a need to edit but the conclusion was something different. – Olipino (talk) 14:40, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for your reply. This is a bit better, but can you elaborate on the type of editing you wish to make to existing gadgets, which gadget(s) you wish to focus on, or which gadget(s) you think could be useful for TestWiki? Dmehus (talk) 14:43, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Dmehus, I need to be careful to edit those files because those affect all users rather than only one user (the performer). I will focus on discussion gadgets because they seem to be very useful while discussing something. I'd like to make a gadget similar w:User:Enterprisey/reply-link.js on enwiki. But for editing it, I will (probably) require interface-admin bit. – Olipino (talk) 15:02, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That one in particular was the predecessor to the DiscussionTools extension, so may not be needed here. Dmehus (talk) 15:12, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
