'''Autoconfirmed users''' is a user group that is automatically assigned by the [[mw:MediaWiki|MediaWiki]] software to any user account that is at least four (4) days old and has made at least ten (10) ''edits''. It cannot be assigned manually via [[Special:UserRights]] and promotions to this user group are not logged. Only the [[User:Abuse filter|abuse filter]] user can revoke [[TestWiki:Autoconfirmed users|autoconfirmed]] rights, and only then in exceptional cases.
 
As a result of a [[mh:meta|Miraheze]]-specific [[phab:T5940|MediaWiki configuration issue]] having to do with [[TestWiki:Users|users]] who were previously either an [[TestWiki:Autopatrolled|autopatrolled]] user or an [[TestWiki:Administrators|administrator]] and had subsequently lost that user group their edits made while they were a member of either of those user groups became unpatrolled, which thus created an unneeded patrol backlog, a [[Special:Diff/27347|community proposal]] was launched by an active [[TestWiki:Bureaucrats|bureaucrat]] to add the <code>autopatrol</code> user group right to the [[TestWiki:Autoconfirmed users|autoconfirmed]] user group indefinitely. It was added indefinitely for two reasons, namely that (a) there was no known date for when the configuration issue/software bug would be fixed and (b) any [[TestWiki:Users|registered user]] who is logged in can request [[TestWiki:Administrators|administrator]] tools.
