The Confirmed user group provides most of the same user group rights as the autoconfirmed users group, with the exception of the following user group rights that are generally not required for this manual group:

  • autopatrol
  • comment
  • comment-delete-own
  • createaccount
  • mwoauthproposeconsumer
  • mwoauthupdateownconsumer

Any administrator may grant a requesting user, including themselves, this user permission; however, because most users are automatically promoted to autoconfirmed upon their account becoming more than four days old and them having made at least ten edits, it is rarely needed. The most common need for confirmed permission is for a user's legitimate alternate account or approved bot account that will make few, if any, edits.

The Confirmed user group has the following rights:

  • Edit pages protected as "Allow only autoconfirmed users" (editsemiprotected)
  • Not be affected by IP-based rate limits (autoconfirmed)
  • Perform CAPTCHA-triggering actions without having to go through the CAPTCHA (skipcaptcha)
