Welcoming users and creating user talk pages

Hi ShadowQuiet,

Thank you for your recent contributions, and for being willing to welcome new users to Public Test Wiki. We have no established policies or guidelines on when to use {{welcome}}, but in the case of GrahamSH's user talk page, it had never been created, and you had no prior interactions with this existing user, so there was no need to create the page, as you did with this edit.

My personal "rule of thumb" is to monitor the user creation log and welcome new users with {{welcome}} once they've made their first edit or log action on this wiki. Often users are just browsing our hosted wikis and created an account on this wiki by merely visiting it.

Let me know if you would like a task or two to help out if you want to help with improving this wiki (other than performing tests).

Cheers,

@ShadowQuiet: Cool, sounds good. Also, if you can go into your Special:Preferences (or Special:GlobalPreferences, if you want to set them on all Miraheze wikis) and make sure you've set a signature that includes either (a) a wikilink your userpage and/or user talk page or (b) a transclusion of your signature page and a timestamp as it's common on many wikis to utilize a bot that archives threads based on the timestamp information.
