TestWiki:Bots

From TestWiki
Revision as of 16:31, 7 July 2020 by Doug (talk | contribs) (Removed protection from "TestWiki:Bots": No evidence of any vandalism or unauthorized edits to this page in more than two years; thus, protection isn't required. Besides, non-administrators' edits will show up in Special:RecentChanges as unpatrolled and have to be reviewed by patrolling administrators.)

Bots have no significant use on the Test Wiki. Bureaucrats can add themselves or another user to the bot group, for testing and prevent flooding. You may request/add the bot flag to your account for testing purposes, however, after testing please remember to remove your access. A bureaucrat should be able to remove their own bot access, as well as other's. To request to operate a full bot account, please make a request here or at the community portal. Bots have the following permissions:

  • Be treated as an automated process (bot)
  • Edit pages protected as "Allow only autoconfirmed users" (editsemiprotected)
  • Have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol)
  • Not be affected by IP-based rate limits (autoconfirmed)
  • Not create redirects from source pages when moving pages (suppressredirect)
  • Not have minor edits to discussion pages trigger the new messages prompt (nominornewtalk)
  • Perform CAPTCHA-triggering actions without having to go through the CAPTCHA (skipcaptcha)
  • Use higher limits in API queries (apihighlimits)
  • Use of the write API (writeapi)
