Joke Blocked

I just thought that I would politely let you know that I blocked your account for one day as a joke, but seriously, please do not ever delete any URL shortener as you did at URL_shortener_test without restoring it, even as a test again. I found it very difficult to undo your test as I haven't edited in ages and am unfamiliar with it. I also believe that this may violate the spirit of your current editing restrictions, which I am aware of. However, I will not be taking any further action regarding this since I do not consider it a big deal. I think it would probably be best if you checked with User:Dmehus before deleting anything again so that you do not inadvertently violate your editing restrictions. Thank you. Hi @Kiko4564:. I’d ask that you refrain from joke-blocking users as it can ping users to the RC feed when the block log is updated, and it is an irritation to deal with as my email inbox was spammed with notifications about joke blocks and then the next message on my talk page. As always, this is a test wiki so you’re more than welcome to joke block yourself or User:Example. Thank you. BrandonWM (talk - contribs) 15:58, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I apologise for the inconvenience caused by my semi-serious joke block. Whilst it is up to you, if you're unhappy with having your email inbox spammed, have you considered getting a separate email address just for wiki purposes? Will do in the future, thank you. On a serious note, I have left you a warning above. Please ensure that you take heed of it in the future. Thank you. Kiko4564 (talk) 16:04, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If it was semi-serious I’d recommend you add that in your original message going forward. I don’t really appreciate joke blocks, so that’s what I’ll say about that. As for your “serious” warning, I vaguely remember restoring that URL but if that’s not the case, then I apologize and will endeavor to double-check that in the future. Point taken, sorry about that. Thank you. Kiko4564 (talk) 23:04, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blocked (Partial)

I have indefinitely blocked you from editing TestWiki:Request permissions, Renaming pages, and Creating new pages on the grounds that you are currently subject to the following editing restrictions:

  1. Prohibition on requesting administrator for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of imposition; (now lapsed)
  2. Requirement that you obtain consensus of the Consuls before requesting bureaucrat;
  3. Prohibition on editing TestWiki:Request permissions, which may be imposed by a partial block if breached;
  4. Prohibition on page, redirect, and template page moves;
  5. Prohibition on deleting any page, redirect, or template, which you, yourself, did not create; and,
  6. Requirement to obtain the approval of at least one (1) other Consul before creating any pages, redirects, or templates on TestWiki, not counting subpages in your userspace.

This is stated here.

If you are unhappy about this block, then you can request an unblock by placing {{Unblock|reason}} on your talkpage. Any patrolling Consul will shortly get to you. However, if you wish to appeal your editing restrictions, then I would suggest that you contact User:Dmehus directly, and ask for advice. I have also revoked your sysop rights in order to prevent you from unblocking yourself. If you wish to request that your sysop rights be restored, then please appeal the block as stated above. Thank you. Kiko4564 (talk) 20:50, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why was this done? What has this user done that warrants this? Agent Isai Talk to me! 05:21, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm just in aware of this by checking the RC feed. BrandonWM had previously created a template (logs) and have thus from their interpretation, breached the editing restrictions stated above. Anyway I believe this should best leave to a consul, and their sysop rights should also not be revoked. Matttest (talk) 05:37, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This was done as BrandonWM already has consul editing restrictions which are stated above and can be found here, which clearly permit "any administrator" to "reimpose either a sitewide or partial block for any length of time". I have restored sysop rights and BrandonWM's userpage. However, the partial block remains in place as a reminder of his editing restrictions, although I have modified it to permit him to edit the Template namespace. --Kiko4564 (talk) 12:50, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
IMO, the restrictions listed are too restrictive, requiring inefficient bureaucracy to utilize the test wiki outside of the userspace. For this reason, and for the fact that I find the edits that kicked off this enforcement action to be non-disruptive, I have removed the block. Instead, I propose the restriction be reduced down to a general recommendation against making any "official" style changes without prior on-wiki approval, and an understanding that less leniency will be given in the event of future disruption. I am comfortable with removing the hard line restrictions. CC @Reception123, NDKilla, Zppix, and Dmehus: -- Void Whispers 23:17, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Personally I think whether the edits were disruptive is is irrelevant, though I had forgotten the user was even under any of these restrictions. I would encourage them to stop. But I don't necessarily think they were disruptive and hope they can just stop on their own. Naleksuh (talk) 00:13, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It also looks like BrandonWM has violated this restriction by deleting a file at https://test.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&logid=25084 - however, I'm not sure if a file counts as a "page, redirect, or template" -- it's a page, but so are redirects and templates, so did the imposing user mean mainspace pages? I'm not sure. Naleksuh (talk) 00:16, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I deleted the file as it was an out-of-scope file to the project, as I and many other users have done in times past. This hasn't been an issue in all the other times I've deleted out-of-scope files, so I'm not sure why it is one now. BrandonWM (talk - contribs) 04:28, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Because it was in violation of your topic-ban. It doesn't matter whether the deletion was valid. Again, see w:WP:BMB. Naleksuh (talk) 02:51, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And you've just violated it yet again with your edit here. Naleksuh (talk) 03:10, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Look bro. I had believed that you had changed after over a year. We all make mistakes. I thought the topic ban might not even be applicable. But it's not cool to just keep breaking it. Especially ignoring the fact that bans apply to all editing good or bad, have acknowledged you're banned from that area and then try to justify doing it anyway. And then after that, do it again. It doesn't seem like there's any way to change it without a block. If I was in your situation (and I have been the recipient of things I consider unfair), you should protest them civilly and get them removed through standard process. But don't violate the restriction. Especially because you had already had two problems with violating them previously and then did it a third time. This isn't good at all. Please stop. Naleksuh (talk) 03:13, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm pretty sure Void just had them removed, Naleksuh. If you see the above message. BrandonWM (talk - contribs) 21:12, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

As the blocking admin, I reviewed your block @Naleksuh:, and strongly disagree with it. I feel that you overstepped your authority, but thankfully the issue was minimal since BrandonWM was never desysoped meaning that the block was not functional. This is not the English Wikipedia, please stop trying to justify your sysop actions by quoting Wikipedia policy. In any event, User:Void had clearly lifted the restriction above. I have briefly reblocked User:BrandonWM, for a period of 1 second, from account creation in order to record this clear error in his block log. Sorry. --Kiko4564 (talk) 16:13, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
