Request reason:

Does this template exist here? Also testing how to approve or decline unblockings. Other admins-I will handle this myself, even if it's not resolved until tomorrow. Melan (talk) 18:03, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Accept reason:

I think I got this right

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

^The template above was me testing how to accept or decline unblock requests. Hopefully I won't actually need to do that for real here. Melan (talk) 18:26, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Testing

Hello,

I've just been made aware of an issue with one of your tests so I'd like to remind you of a few of our rules:

  • You should revert your tests.
  • Your edit summaries must remain appropriate at all times.
  • You must not add the bot right to non-bot accounts like your own. You may add it to a bot account for testing but only consuls can approve bots for long term use.

Thanks, RhinosF1 (talk) 06:16, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I will follow all the rules here from now on. Melan (talk) 10:52, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Adding categories using HotCat to pages

Hi Melan,

I hope that you are doing well and learning lots. I noticed at Flow, with this edit, you added a redlinked category which doesn't exist in the Category: namespace. Doing so adds the request to Special:WantedCategories. Here we are just testing, so there's no need to create that category, but I just thought I'd point that out as a tip when you are managing your own public wiki. Also, have a look at the Special:CategoryTree to see browse the hierarchical arrangement of categories by parent category. To find the parent categories, I find using Special:AllPages, filtered by Category: namespace to be helpful.

Aside from that, whether you are adding redlinked or bluelinked (actual categories exist) to test pages, please try and remember to revert your testing. There are always administrators who can practice their mopping to clean up when reviewing Special:RecentChanges, but it's also a good practice when you are running, moderating, or even editing on a public wiki to clean up one's own testing.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to {{ping}} me or another administrator. :)

Cheers,

June 2020

Hello,

Please immediately stop hiding log entries for no reason unless it is a test that you will quickly revert. If you continue to breach our policy, your rights will be removed and you may be blocked. RhinosF1 (talk) 12:17, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry, I got busy with something else and forgot to revert. (And I didn't want it to be known that I was testing the CheckUser block template for some reason). I'll revert my tests from now on. Melan (talk) 12:21, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Good. RhinosF1 (talk) 12:36, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Language in your tests

Hi Melan,

I noticed that you recently tried creating, and deleting, a structured discussion page at Talk:Flow. You deleted topic Topic:Vo41awcxwtb45zz2, after testing, which I was pleased to see. However, I couldn't help but notice your language at Topic:Vo41awcxwtb45zz2. In a Discord discussion channel or on IRC, I have no problems with cursing—heck, I do it as well. In a public setting, though, as administrators, we must set model behaviour for our users. I do realize you were almost certainly just kidding around or trying to think of some text to write in your test, but surely you can think of something else to say besides that. I find, "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dogs," works well in tests. :)

Thanks,

Given this has happened before and the numerous warnings you have had across both your accounts, I am revoking your rights. Further inappropiate testing will result in a block. RhinosF1 (talk) 05:49, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
