Test blocks and revision deletions[edit]

Hi Sunny00217,

Again, welcome to Public Test Wiki. In reviewing the recent log activity here on Public Test Wiki, I noticed that I inadvertently created the {{welcome}} on a subpage of your now-deleted common.js file page, instead of on this page), so I have now merged it into this page and deleted that talk page redirect.

Anyway, aside from drawing attention to my creating the {{welcome}} in the wrong location, I noticed that you were busy testing the administrator tools, which is great to see. Regarding revision deletions, unless it's on revision deletion test or there truly is a legitimate reason for hiding something, we rarely hide the details of our actions, for the purposes of transparency. So, I've unhidden several revisions that you had previously deleted. Likewise, since User:Example is a globally locked test account, it doesn't need to remain locally blocked indefinitely. When you are finished with your test blocks on that account, it's best to unblock the account (unless you've set the test block for a short period, i.e. less than 24 hours or so).

If you have any questions about anything at all really, please don't hesitate to ask me by {{ping}}-ing me by a way of a reply. And again, welcome! :)

Cheers,

Abuse filter testing[edit]

Hi Sunny00217,

Me again...regarding creating abuse filters and testing how the abuse filters work, when doing so, it's best to either (a) immediately disable them or (b) code the abuse filter to be active only on your sandbox page, to limit the "hits" it generates. Your filter 37, causing a trigger for every "edit" on any page, while harmless since no action was taken, nonetheless would clutter up the abuse filter logs. So, especially in cases like this where the implications are wide-ranging, it's doubly important to to make sure to undo your tests, which, in this case, would involve immediately disabling the filter.

Thanks again,
Dmehus (talk) 17:43, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
