Request Permissions
What is this page used for?
  • If you want to request testing permissions, you've come to the right place!
Tips for a successful request:
  • Be sure to replace Requested right with the right you are requesting. You'll see what we're talking about once you hit "Request permissions" below.
Important Notes
  • Please be sure to review TestWiki:Policies before making any request.
  • Administrator may be granted to any logged in user, and revoked for inappropriate use.
  • Bureaucrat will only be granted to a user who has been an administrator for 24 hours, who has at least 10 edits and who is trustworthy.
  • Rights like Checkuser and Oversight will not be given due to the access to private information.
  • For rollback, confirmed user and autopatrolled rights, you can assign it to yourself if you're an administrator.

@Synoman Barris: Okay, this LGTM so am going to mark as  Done. Dmehus (talk) 21:00, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

TrustedInstaller (Admin)

TrustedInstaller (talk) 23:59, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@TrustedInstalled:  Done. Please ensure you have briefly read through TestWiki:Policies and revert any tests you do, including deleting any pages created. If moving test pages, it's best to suppress the redirect. Also, for test blocks, it's best to test on User:Example, undoing any test blocks if for more than 24 hours in length, or your own account. Test pages provides an automatically updated list of special-purpose testing pages you can use as well. Dmehus (talk) 00:41, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Privileges Revoked per discussion at User talk:TrustedInstaller related to the user's unblocking of an LTA IP address in this log action. Administrator can be regranted in two weeks, on or after 20 August 2020, but bureaucrat will require approval by a Consul, given the extra level of trust inherent in that role. Dmehus (talk) 01:21, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
After a discussion here, I can get my rights back. TrustedInstaller (talk) 21:41, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I did say "The only thing I'm wondering is how he knew to go straight for that block to remove." so would you mind just answering that for me? RhinosF1 (talk) 21:44, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I was looking at the recent changes, and I saw that it was a dynamic IP, and the 6 month blocked seemed like a really long time. TrustedInstaller (talk) 21:51, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt without proof of any reason to disbelieve. Please follow our policies, discuss things with the community. RhinosF1 (talk) 21:52, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done. Please ensure you've read through all the quick policies at TestWiki:Policies, which mainly concern ensuring you block only either yourself or User:Example when testing blocking functionality, that you test on Category:Special test pages and not on Category:Non-test pages, and, crucially, that you ask any questions where you're uncertain on something and undo any tests you do. Cuddly Rainbow Guardian (talk) 22:52, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

On hold. The bureaucrat bit is typically only granted after we've been able to establish that you understand our key policies, especially, TestWiki:Main policy and TestWiki:Testing policy. Please perform not only a few test log actions but also edits and come back here, reply to this request, after at least 24 hours and you've made more than 10 edits and any bureaucrat may action your request. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 22:58, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Stale. Should you wish to test the bureaucrat bit in the future, please perform a few test actions and make a few test edits with your administrator tools and either (a) re-request the added right or (b) reply to this thread (if it hasn't yet been archived). Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:53, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

デーモン閣下 (talk) 06:52, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

On October 23rd 2019, you had your admin flag revoked for "abuse". While I think it is water under the bridge at this point (been about ten months), I have pinged the revoking consul to see if there are any comments. Naleksuh (talk) 07:06, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@デーモン閣下: This seems to be related to the user's inappropriate use of the mass message system. Given the span of time, I'd be inclined to grant testing administrator rights again. Do you intend to use the mass message system at all, if granted rights again? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 20:35, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@デーモン閣下: Rather than keep you waiting too long, I'm going to mark this as  Done for administrator, seeing as the prior problem seemed to revolve around inappropriate use of massmessage, which is now a bureaucrat right. So, for now, I see no issue with giving you the administrator permission, and we can refer again to @Zppix: should you wish to re-request the bureaucrat bit. Dmehus (talk) 20:23, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@デーモン閣下:  Done. Please ensure you abide by all of our policies, which includes, among other things, reverting all your tests in the reverse order from which you effected them, performing test blocks on either (i) yourself (ii) User:Example, and asking questions where you are uncertain on something. Dmehus (talk) 20:27, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

S3097 (Bureaucrat)

Done. This LGTM. Please remember to revert all your tests in the reverse order in which you performed them. For example, if you create a new page and protect that new page, then unprotect it prior to deletion. Dmehus (talk) 21:38, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

MarioSuperstar77 (Admin for 24 hours)

MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 21:15, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can you clarify what you want to do with editing it? There should generally be no reason to change this page. Naleksuh (talk) 21:18, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I want to know whether or not I could use templates and add variables inside of them, let's say I have a template called {{Template}} and the template allows for more information to be inserted inside of it, so I can use the template like this {{Template|Information}}. So now I have the template with the information with it, however I want to use that for special:upload, but from what I have seen on Wikimedia projects, they always use multiple templates for the licenses like this:
*PD|Public Domain
*CC|SA-BY|Creative commons license 1
*CC|ND-SA-BY|Creative commons license 2</br
-With PD, CC, SA-BY and ND-SA-BY being templates. Totalling 4 different templates.
I have no idea if it is possible, but I wanted to compress all of that into one template by using one empty template and inserting information inside of it, like I have shown above and I did not want to try this on my own wiki. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 21:31, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So you want to test the transclusion of this template? You can test on the Sandbox without needing to edit the mediawiki page though, right? Naleksuh (talk) 21:34, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The transclusion works differently on Mediawiki:License, I could even have used the Sandbox on Wikipedia if I needed to test a regular template for an article, but instead I need to use Mediawiki:License and obviously I can't edit Wikipedia's licenses since I'm not an admin there (And for that matter it would probably disrupt the website itself, so even I was admin there I would not do that). I was speaking hypothetically when I referred to the template called "template", but I do wanna test Template:CC which I created just about 10 minutes ago. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 21:50, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm not entirely sure what results what you are expecting, but I will mark this as  Done for now -- reach out if you have any questions :) Naleksuh (talk) 21:55, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @MarioSuperstar77: Regarding MediaWiki:License, I suspect you cannot change this in the MediaWiki:License interface message because this is controlled in either (a) LocalSettings.php or (b) globally in the MirahezeMagic messages, both of which are administered on GitHub. You can see more here and here. What are you trying to do, though? Are you trying to change your wiki's copyright license? Dmehus (talk) 16:12, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm already done with testing, it didn't go as I'd originally expected (Because of how it is set up on Wikipedia) and I liked the results, I could add variables into my templates normally without additional trouble. I mentioned the wrong page above, it was Mediawiki:LicenseS that I intended to edit, but that's besides the point, now. At least I did not need to go to the localsettings, I just needed admin privileges, so I could edit that page, but thanks anyway for the concern. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 18:29, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
All interface messages can be modified on wiki. RhinosF1 (talk) 19:38, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
