GrahamSH (Bureaucrat)[edit]

GrahamSH (talk) 17:29, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Not done Sorry, but you must be an Administrator for at least 24 hours before being granted 'crat. -Examknow (talk) 17:30, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
To add to what @Examknow: said, we're somewhat flexible on the 24 hour rule (i.e., 20 hours might be okay), but there has to be enough test edits, and cleaning up of one's test edits, in order to satisfy the requirement that you are trustworthy. I noticed you've added :Category:GrahamSH to your user page, ostensibly testing the HotCat gadget, which is great, but we generally don't categorize users in that way. We do have :Category:Users, but that's, more or less, a holding category for the Babel users by language category. So, I would recommend, first, to practicing a test deletion by deleting :Category:GrahamSH and then removing, via HotCat, the user category you added to your local page (to remove it from Special:WantedCategories as a redlinked, wanted category). Following that, perform a few tests, undoing or reverting, as applicable, so that we can see you know what you're doing. If you're ever unsure, don't hesitate to ask one of us here on wiki or via #miraheze-testwiki on IRC. Also, you may find Category:Special test pages helpful for listing all of the pages on which you can perform certain administrator tool function tests, without having to both create and delete any new test pages you create. • Requested group/permission: Bureaucrat
  • Reason for requesting: I want to learn how to be a bureaucrat. I have a lot of experience with admin, but not crat.

GrahamSH (talk) 17:11, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

@GrahamSH: When you say that you have "a lot of experience with admin, but not crat," are you speaking to your experience on other wikis or just Public Test Wiki? If the latter, I'd prefer to see a few more test edits. Try checking out Category:Special test pages, perform a few other tests besides just a page deletion/undeletion and a category creation, and make sure you undo any tests performed (i.e., if you create a new test page, delete it). If the former, can you link to your Special:Contributions page or Special:Log page (either as an interwiki wikilink or external link) for us to review? So, I'm placing this request On hold, to either see a few more tests/cleanup or seeing your external wiki admin actions/logs, then either I or another bureaucrat will be able to grant you bureaucrat rights. Sorry, I didn't know I was logged out when writing that!

Done. Please remember to ensure you've read our few ground rules. If testing blocking, it's highly recommended you pick on User:Example. If creating pages, remember to delete them. Undo any tests you perform. We also have Category:Special test pages you can use for testing. Ask us if you have any questions. Dmehus (talk) 00:32, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Rock (Administrator)[edit]

Rock (talk) 16:10, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

On hold...@Rock: Can you elaborate further on your reason(s) for wanting the administrator right—that is, what sort of functions are you chiefly looking to test, and do you have any experience as an editor on any Wikimedia- or Fandom-owned wiki projects? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:17, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Yes I am use to fandom. Rock (talk) 03:58, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
Done Okay, thanks for clarifying from where you came. I am going to grant you administrator permissions. Though we have few rules, we do have some guidelines. Please ensure you've read them. The two most important ones are that you (a) undo any tests you perform (i.e., if creating a new page, delete it afterward) and that (b) you are strongly encouraged, when testing blocking functionality, to test on User:Example. Though it is a globally locked test account, it still can be blocked, unblocked, and the like. Also, when testing, we have Category:Special test pages that includes a series of pages on which you are encouraged to perform any tests. Longer term, if you want to volunteer to help improve Public Test Wiki, please ask any consul or an experienced bureaucrat for ways in which you can volunteer. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask us on IRC or Discord. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 16:53, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Rock (talk) 12:19, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Not done as it's only been one week since a consul revoked your user rights and informed you can reapply in 28 days. You need to wait about three more weeks. To make readdition of both your rights more likely, I strongly suggest creating a sandbox and performing a series of constructive test edits that administrators can patrol. We need to see some editing activity, as it would be helpful assessment purposes in cases like this. Dmehus (talk) 12:58, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Done. Please make sure that you've read TestWiki:Main policy and read through most, if not all, of TestWiki:Policies. The key points are to make sure you chiefly perform tests on Category:Special test pages-categorized pages, undo or otherwise revert any tests you perform, and, for test blocks, that you perform tests on User:Example, User:Example2, User:Example3, and/or yourself. It's considered a best practice to obtain written consent, ideally on-wiki, before testing on someone else. Dmehus (talk) 16:55, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

MarioSuperstar77 (Admin for 24 hours)[edit]

MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 21:15, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Can you clarify what you want to do with editing it? There should generally be no reason to change this page. Naleksuh (talk) 21:18, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
I want to know whether or not I could use templates and add variables inside of them, let's say I have a template called {{Template}} and the template allows for more information to be inserted inside of it, so I can use the template like this {{Template|Information}}. So now I have the template with the information with it, however I want to use that for special:upload, but from what I have seen on Wikimedia projects, they always use multiple templates for the licenses like this:
*PD|Public Domain
*CC|SA-BY|Creative commons license 1
*CC|ND-SA-BY|Creative commons license 2</br
-With PD, CC, SA-BY and ND-SA-BY being templates. Totalling 4 different templates.
I have no idea if it is possible, but I wanted to compress all of that into one template by using one empty template and inserting information inside of it, like I have shown above and I did not want to try this on my own wiki. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 21:31, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
So you want to test the transclusion of this template? You can test on the Sandbox without needing to edit the mediawiki page though, right? Naleksuh (talk) 21:34, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
The transclusion works differently on Mediawiki:License, I could even have used the Sandbox on Wikipedia if I needed to test a regular template for an article, but instead I need to use Mediawiki:License and obviously I can't edit Wikipedia's licenses since I'm not an admin there (And for that matter it would probably disrupt the website itself, so even I was admin there I would not do that). I was speaking hypothetically when I referred to the template called "template", but I do wanna test Template:CC which I created just about 10 minutes ago. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 21:50, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure what results what you are expecting, but I will mark this as  Done for now -- reach out if you have any questions :) Naleksuh (talk) 21:55, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @MarioSuperstar77: Regarding MediaWiki:License, I suspect you cannot change this in the MediaWiki:License interface message because this is controlled in either (a) LocalSettings.php or (b) globally in the MirahezeMagic messages, both of which are administered on GitHub. You can see more here and here. What are you trying to do, though? Are you trying to change your wiki's copyright license? Dmehus (talk) 16:12, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

I'm already done with testing, it didn't go as I'd originally expected (Because of how it is set up on Wikipedia) and I liked the results, I could add variables into my templates normally without additional trouble. I mentioned the wrong page above, it was Mediawiki:LicenseS that I intended to edit, but that's besides the point, now. At least I did not need to go to the localsettings, I just needed admin privileges, so I could edit that page, but thanks anyway for the concern. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 18:29, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Our bureaucrat level is not the same as on most wikis. That being said, as a Consul, I can enable certain things here for you for testing purposes. Dmehus (talk) 19:12, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
@AppleCrunchy: Your tests look great, and thank you for reverting all your test sysop actions in the reverse order performed. We're roughly at the twenty four hour mark, so I'm going to mark this as  done and grant bureaucrat. Please make sure that you only grant bureaucrat in line with policy and only upon request (ideally, here, but also on your TestWiki user talk page as well). Beyond that, there's not much too else to say, I would say, except to add that you should ask if you are uncertain if you can something. Dmehus (talk) 12:09, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
@AppleCrunchy: One more thing...please see my reply on Meta:Administrators' noticeboard (on Meta) where I have a question requiring your request for autopatrolled there. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 12:15, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Gomdoli4696 (talk) 05:12, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

You have had administrator for less than half an hour. Generally at least 24 hours should be wanted as well as a reason, which was not provided here (user rights can be tested as a sysop). Naleksuh (talk) 05:18, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Scian (Bureaucrat)[edit]

Of course, I won't abuse it and I know that I should wait 24 hours after being Admin.

I do request this Before 24 hours and I'm willing to wait 24 hours after being Admin because it's the wiki's Policy! Thanks.

Regards, Scian (talk) 02:24, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

@Scian: Yeah, I would want to see just a few more edits from you and at least twenty four hours. If you'd like to expedite the process, you can, optionally and in your discretion, link to your TestWiki account from your account on another major wiki (i.e., a Wikimedia wiki). Dmehus (talk) 02:27, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your consideration. I don't need that permission right now so I can wait for a while and I will make some edits.
Plus. I don't know how to link my another accounts :(
Plus Plus. It's not related to the request, but why don't you make a new namespace like "Test:blah blah"? It would be much better to distinguish with non-test pages.
@Dmehus: But Thanks, Scian (talk) 02:31, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
I want to perform high-leveled tests. But, I will ask before performing important actions.
Regards,
Scian (talk) 23:23, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
@Scian: Oh, well, you're not really linking your accounts, per se. Generally, it's quite easy to confirm your account. All you would do is make a small edit to your user page on the other wiki, saying something like, "I am Scian on Public Test Wiki," then you just come back here, and share the link to that specific revision. That's an account confirmation edit. But to your request, what sort of things are you interested in testing with the bureaucrat bit? I noted that you suggested creating a new namespace for test pages, which is not a bad idea, and I am planning on having a new namespace (School:) for our long-planned administrator school. Plus, if we made a namespace for test pages, what would we use Main: namespace for? We'd be one of the only wikis to have no or almost no pages in our main namespace. At any rate, note that bureaucrats on TestWiki don't have access to managewiki, as that is within the permissions of consuls. Your edits have been fine, you've been reverting all your tests in the reverse order performed, and have generally been following our policies, I guess my only concern, really, aside from wanting to know what you want to test with the bureaucrat bit, is how you came to discover and add the Category:TestWiki sockpuppets of Bugambilia category to category test? Can you describe for me your thought process, and walk me through the steps that caused you to discover that category? With that answered, as well as what you want to use the bureaucrat bit for, I'd be much more inclined to grant you the bit. Dmehus (talk) 01:35, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
Ok thanks. Bugambilia? I don’t know but I think I just typed test and it was on the top so I put it just as test. Actually, I’m Korean so I don’t know some words such as ‘sockpuppet’ and ‘Bugambilia’. Thanks. I’ll email you the screenshot that can prove my Wikimedia account is me since I don’t want to publicly display my another account. Sincerely, Scian (talk) 01:52, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
@Scian: Sure, e-mail works, you can use this secure e-mail link. When you say you just typed "test" using HotCat, do you mean in the HotCat search bar to search for a category? Dmehus (talk) 01:54, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
Yes. Exactly. I sent u email. Scian (talk) 01:59, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

@Gomdoli4696: You are generally productive and helpful on Meta; however, this is a bit soon after requesting the sysop flag. So, while this may seem mildly bureaucratic (no pun intended), I've placed this request on hold until some time tomorrow, after which time it can be granted by any bureaucrat. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:36, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
@Gomdoli4696: I've looked through your edits, which have been constructive, and you've even managed to find a new test page, rollback test, that we didn't have and is potentially useful. Please continue to follow TestWiki:Policies, revert all tests in the reverse order performed, and generally continue editing in both the constructive and communicative manner in which you've been doing. As such, this is now  Done. Dmehus (talk) 02:31, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

We're pretty accommodating with reasonable use cases. You can, if you're so inclined, also action permissions requests, so long as you aware of of the criteria for granting for each group, and it's a good practice to tell them something similar to what I told you in your administrator request. @Yahya: Your test log actions generally seem fine, as you revert most of your tests, except for one revision deletion that another bureaucrat had to revert for you. However, I am placing this on hold for now principally because you've not stated a reason for requesting the bureaucrat bit—that is to say, what, specifically, you are looking to test. Additionally, I haven't seen many editing contributions to assess the latter part of the group's eligibility requirements, for which I'd note that twenty four hours is only the minimum timeframe. Instead, I will reassess this request in a few days. To expedite the process, if you can provide an account confirmation on a Wikimedia or other prominent non-Miraheze wiki from that wiki confirming your Miraheze account here, I would be inclined to grant sooner. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:53, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Thanks for reply. I've 17k+ edits in different Wikimedia projects. My meta wiki user page here. Best.Yahya (talk) 15:32, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
@Yahya: Oh, that's great. Would you mind either linking to a specific revision on any Wikimedia wiki where you confirm your Miraheze account here? Once that's done, I'll grant rights. Dmehus (talk) 15:38, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
Hi @Dmehus:, I did it here. :) Yahya (talk) 18:09, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
@Yahya:  Thanks, per confirmation. This is now  done.
Done. Please continue to make sure you are following all policies and know that bureaucrat is, ultimately, a more senior, trusted testing permission. @Cortex: If you are wanting to test abuse filters, please limit them to a specific page(s), such as your sandbox, so as not to negatively other users' experiences. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 02:24, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Your tests have been fine; one minor point, when you delete your user page that is currently protected, best practice is to remove the protection first. Dmehus (talk) 05:53, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
