Global blocks and local blocks
Hi Anton...I noticed you have unblocked two IPs blocked locally by the abuse filter here and here. While I get the thinking, the reality is that there can be reasons for blocking an IP locally in addition to locally (though, in fairness, there can be reasons to blocking a user locally in addition to globally locking, though spam only accounts are more of an exception to that at least in TestWiki's case). As we're currently testing the abuse filter locally, my preference is to let the local abuse filter blocks expire naturally, as it becomes much easier to track, rather than seeing unblocks.
Oh, okay. Thanks for you clarification.
You've got a mail
Hello Anton, I've sent you an email! Please check your inbox. Thanks
Wait, okay, I check! :) I will mark this topic as being dealt with at the same time, because I do not like to have open discussions, because they are easily left open to me...
I will open it enough to say that
Number of threads to keep on TestWiki:Request permissions
Hey Anton...is there any particular minimum number of threads to keep on TestWiki:Request permissions? Default is five, but I'd be fine if you want to lower it to three. Or is there a specific number you'd prefer?
Hi! Yeah, three is pretty good. So if it can be changed.
Sure, if you want to change it, please feel free. The parameter is in
mw:Manual:Pywikibot/archivebot.py/setup, and should be
Anton Yeah, that's great. Thanks.
Non-test blocks and actions on TestWiki
Hi Anton, I know your recent block of Theory of Eternity meant well, but I have reverted it, and wanted to just remind you, as well as Olipino that Consuls remain the non-test administrators on TestWiki. It's fine for TestWiki administrators to block spam only accounts or for blatant vandalism, that sort of thing, but complicated matters, especially those under active review by Consuls are best left to Consuls. Thanks.
Okay I understand, that's what I said to let the consuls decide. I just wanted to do something so that similar doubts or actions would not continue here. Thanks for you.
Theory of eternity
So it seems. Yes, the situation is really strange now. Do you mean that you should just block the user here too? I will do it if this is not clear now.
I think we should block him for a while and let Dmehus take any decision, since he has got more tools to check the situation.
I've revoked their rights on TestWiki. I've asked a fellow Consul, Void, to take a look at the contributions on TestWiki and Test Wiki in order to decide what further actions are needed. Thanks.
Thanks, Dmehus! Their explanation does not really match now. Hopefully the matter will be resolved in some way.
how do my explanations not match? I've simply told my side of this situation, and I haven't made anything up.
One more thing, how do you explain this: "CheckUser shows that you own User:Endymiona19. That username is a confirmed Bugambilia sock on wikipedia. Given this evidence you are hereby blocked. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 23:35, 2 April 2021 (UTC)" on here: https://testwiki.wiki/wiki/User_talk:Theory_of_Eternity ?
I don't know how checkuser works, but that account doesn't belong to me either. I have several cousins who sometimes use wiki's, maybe one of them made those two accounts.
Now there seems to be a new explanation and everything else coming up, so I have to calm down the situation. I will give you a day's block, and in the meantime the consuls will be able to decide here how to do it. And if the account is used by more than one, as you claimed, your account can be permanently locked even for the reason of "Compromised account". Thanks.
Let the consuls now look into the matter. Don't comment on this now, thanks.
Translating Sandbox heading causing visual bug on sandbox pages
I am not completely familiar with the Translate extension but it appears that something you did to the Template:Sandbox heading template is causing
<translate></translate> tags to show on the Sandbox pages. Please look into it when you get the chance.
The issue has now been fixed so that tags should not appear on the Sandbox page (or at least I don't see them). I completely removed the possibility of its translation from that template. Now all you have to do is delete the subpages (/fi) and (/en) that came when I translated into Finnish. Thanks.
Thank you for resolving the issue quickly, although I cannot delete those pages myself as I do not have the rights to do so. You'll have to delete them yourself or ask someone else to.
I know, and I'm doing it right now (I just do not understand why they do not leave). I want to remind you that if you want, you can request sysop permissions on the TestWiki:Request permissions page.
I am aware of the process to request permissions, I just do not need them at the moment! Thanks for deleting those pages, also. I will mark this topic as resolved.
Wow, so appear. I'm looking at it now. Thank you so much for the announcement! If I can't fix it, I'll return it to normal without translations.
Reminding users of TestWiki:Testing policy
Hi Anton...it's great that you are reminding users to clean up after their tests, in addition to cleaning up after them; however, please note that we don't have to be so strict as to require deletion of templates or modules immediately or even within a short time frame, as you did with your reminder to Lily at her user talk page. Instead, we can periodically prune unused modules and templates once or twice a year. Hope that helps.
Hi Dmehus, I understand you. However, that Lily module had already been created on March 11th according to its history.
