Request permissions on TestWiki

Welcome to Miraheze's TestWiki! This page is for requesting testing permissions (Administrator/Bureaucrat) for TestWiki.

Tips for a successful request:

  • Be sure to replace Requested right with the actual user right you are requesting. You will see what we are referring to once you tap on the blue 'Request permissions' button at the bottom of this pink box.

Important notes

  • Make sure to read our policies before making any request, especially the main policy and the testing policy, and remember to revert and undo all your tests once you're done.
  • Administrator user right may be granted to any logged in user, but it may also be revoked for inappropriate use.
  • Bureaucrat user right will only be granted to a user who has been an administrator for 24 hours, who has at least 10 edits, and who has been deemed trustworthy.
  • Specific user rights like CheckUser and Oversight will never be given, due to the access to sensitive private information.
  • For confirmed user and autopatrolled rights, you can assign it to yourself if you are an administrator (though you can request those user groups here if you do not require and do not want the sysop tools).
  • For consul rights, that should be requested at the community portal, and gain a clear community consensus for that right to be granted. Consul is a very high-trust role and is rarely granted.

AppleCrunchy (Admin and bureaucrat)

AppleCrunchy (talk) 19:08, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@AppleCrunchy: I'm going to say  Done on the administrator, but please remember to follow TestWiki:Policies and, specifically, to revert all test actions in the reverse order of which you performed them. On bureaucrat, we do normally like to see you make a few edits, so this is on hold for one day and until you've made a few edits. Are you wanting to test Special:ManageWiki here, though? Our bureaucrat level is not the same as on most wikis. That being said, as a Consul, I can enable certain things here for you for testing purposes. Dmehus (talk) 19:12, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@AppleCrunchy: Your tests look great, and thank you for reverting all your test sysop actions in the reverse order performed. We're roughly at the twenty four hour mark, so I'm going to mark this as  done and grant bureaucrat. Please make sure that you only grant bureaucrat in line with policy and only upon request (ideally, here, but also on your TestWiki user talk page as well). Beyond that, there's not much too else to say, I would say, except to add that you should ask if you are uncertain if you can something. Dmehus (talk) 12:09, 15 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@AppleCrunchy: One more thing...please see my reply on Meta:Administrators' noticeboard (on Meta) where I have a question requiring your request for autopatrolled there. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 12:15, 15 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done. Please ensure you've read our policies, understand them, and revert all tests in the reverse order performed. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 20:22, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Scian (Admin)

I did some edits on other wikis (like Wikipedia) and I know how to edit, but I don't know how to control.

Plus. I want to learn MediaWiki controls to develop or edit my Miraheze wikis.

I read Policies well. Thanks. Scian (talk) 12:27, 28 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done, but @Scian:, I did note your creation of a test page in TestWiki: namespace. On TestWiki, all testing pages are created in Main: namespace. Please ensure you've read TestWiki:Policies, and revert all tests in the reverse order which performed. Dmehus (talk) 16:56, 28 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Scian (Bureaucrat)

Of course, I won't abuse it and I know that I should wait 24 hours after being Admin.

I do request this Before 24 hours and I'm willing to wait 24 hours after being Admin because it's the wiki's Policy! Thanks.

Regards, Scian (talk) 02:24, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Scian: Yeah, I would want to see just a few more edits from you and at least twenty four hours. If you'd like to expedite the process, you can, optionally and in your discretion, link to your TestWiki account from your account on another major wiki (i.e., a Wikimedia wiki). Dmehus (talk) 02:27, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for your consideration. I don't need that permission right now so I can wait for a while and I will make some edits.
Plus. I don't know how to link my another accounts :(
Plus Plus. It's not related to the request, but why don't you make a new namespace like "Test:blah blah"? It would be much better to distinguish with non-test pages.
@Dmehus: But Thanks, Scian (talk) 02:31, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I want to perform high-leveled tests. But, I will ask before performing important actions.
Regards,
Scian (talk) 23:23, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Scian: Oh, well, you're not really linking your accounts, per se. Generally, it's quite easy to confirm your account. All you would do is make a small edit to your user page on the other wiki, saying something like, "I am Scian on Public Test Wiki," then you just come back here, and share the link to that specific revision. That's an account confirmation edit. But to your request, what sort of things are you interested in testing with the bureaucrat bit? I noted that you suggested creating a new namespace for test pages, which is not a bad idea, and I am planning on having a new namespace (School:) for our long-planned administrator school. Plus, if we made a namespace for test pages, what would we use Main: namespace for? We'd be one of the only wikis to have no or almost no pages in our main namespace. At any rate, note that bureaucrats on TestWiki don't have access to managewiki, as that is within the permissions of consuls. Your edits have been fine, you've been reverting all your tests in the reverse order performed, and have generally been following our policies, I guess my only concern, really, aside from wanting to know what you want to test with the bureaucrat bit, is how you came to discover and add the Category:TestWiki sockpuppets of Bugambilia category to category test? Can you describe for me your thought process, and walk me through the steps that caused you to discover that category? With that answered, as well as what you want to use the bureaucrat bit for, I'd be much more inclined to grant you the bit. Dmehus (talk) 01:35, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok thanks. Bugambilia? I don’t know but I think I just type test and it was on the top so I put it just as test. Actually, I’m Korean so I don’t know some words such as ‘sockpuppet’ and ‘Bugambilia’. Thanks. I’ll email you the screenshot that can prove my Wikimedia account is me since I don’t want to publicly display my another account. Gomdoli4696 (talk) 05:12, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You have had administrator for less than half an hour. Generally at least 24 hours should be wanted as well as a reason, which was not provided here (user rights can be tested as a sysop). Naleksuh (talk) 05:18, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

And I won't abuse it and I know that I should wait 24 hours after being Admin.

More, I want to use this permission's function. --Gomdoli4696 (talk) 13:19, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Gomdoli4696: You are generally productive and helpful on Meta; however, this is a bit soon after requesting the sysop flag. So, while this may seem mildly bureaucratic (no pun intended), I've placed this request on hold until some time tomorrow, after which time it can be granted by any bureaucrat. Thanks.
